Alright ladies (and fellas). This is a must share, especially for all my loves in Chicago or any other cold market.
People ask me all the time how I stay so tan in the winter time. And no, it’s not because I tan. I actually gave that up awhile ago and now only go a few times a year. Part of my constant “tan” is because of the Native American in my blood that gives me a darker base. BUT my other secret weapon, seeing I think I’m pretty pasty white, is this stuff….

Since the first time self-tanner hit the shelves, I’ve been using it. I started with one at Bath & Body Works years back. It was awful, turned me so bright orange. I’m surprised I went into school the next day. I remember exfoliating my skin for an hour straight to get rid of the orange :) Since then, I’ve become more selective with what I use. For the longest time, I’d use Jergen’s Natural Glow. I really liked it, however it A) had an odd smell and B) took awhile and constant use for a hint of a tan to show up. I really wanted to find something in the middle – fast results without the orange glow.
In June, my boo and I flew out to San Diego to help my in-laws move into their new home. My mother-in-law actually introduced me to Banana Boat Summer Color Sunless Tinted Lotion. I used it that day, ever so lightly, and was pretty pleased at the results. I came home and bought some and have been using it ever since. In the summertime, it came me the golden glow that I wanted that looked 100% real. And in the winter time, it’s helped me on days when I feel super washed out and am begging for a little healthy glow. I use this stuff all over, though in the winter time tend to mainly use it on my face, neck, chest, and arms – aka: the only skin you see in the winter in Chicago :) While I wash my hands immediately and am careful to not lather it on my elbows or other dry spots, I’ve never experienced any weird streaking. The stuff is seriously awesome!
Not only does it not make you turn orange, leaves you streak free, and smells good, it’s also not harmful on your skin and only costs $10.99 at Ulta which will last forever! If you’re looking for a little color and want to do it the healthy way, check it out :) I use the Deep Dark Color one. If you’re lighter-skinned, I’d start with the Light/Medium Color and work your way up.
